"Buy why won't you come?" Mia said, getting annoyed at his stubborn attitude. Their relationship had developed into moving in together, which wasn't easy as Mia likes her own space and her own time alone but it was his idea and considering the amount she put him through so she thought she would give it a go. It wasn't going well, the year had been full of arguments, mainly about his jealousy and grudges of the past.
"Because I don't want to see that prik!" He snapped back. She desperately wanted him to be their with her for support.
"Don't be so stupid Ashley! You can't keep avoiding him. He's a part of my life, he's my betfriend's husbands brother for fuck sake and I'm the publicist for their band! Ashley had never dropped the grudge towards Zac. He had neither forgotten nor forgiven.
"I'm not spending Christmas day with them. End of." Robyn and Taylor were having Christmas at their house and Robyn had begged Mia to come, not that she had to be convinced too much, she still loved seeing Zac as he gave her that feeling that Ashley never gave her anymore.
"Well, looks like you're not spending Christmas day with me then. Make up your mind carefully, if you don't come next week then...actually you know what can you just leave! I want your stuff out when I get back" And with that last scream, she stormed out slamming the door behind her. She was sick of his constant moods, attitudes and didn't want him bringing her down with him.
Mia was running late, she had told Robyn she would get to hers two hours before everyone else to help set up. She was running three hours late. She let herself in their house and was greeted with Robyn's sarcasm from the other room,
"That must be the girl who said she would be here five hours ago. Thank you for greeting us with your presence!'' Mia smirked and made her way through to the dinning room with all eyes on her, including Zac's. She took her seat and started digging into the feast that Robyn had prepared, she smiled at seeing her best friend as this domestic goddess but her thoughts were interrupted by a heart renching question,
''So Zac man, looks like you're going to be going up the isle before Tay and Robyn ey?''. Ike said before realising the tension he had created and quickly looked down and started moving his food on his plate around. At this moment Zac and Mia had looked into each others eyes at the same time, their gaze was locked longingly to one another for a couple seconds, in which they both felt the chills in their spine, the sparks and the emotions caused. Zac was the first to break the gaze with an ashamed look,
"Erm, we haven't really talked that much about it." Mia couldn't believe he was getting married, she didn't even know he was seeing anyone and why hadn't Robyn told her? She looked at Robyn who gave a confused look and a shrug, so if she didn't know how long had Zac and this girl been going out for? After this announcement the rest of the meal had consisted of awkward looks and meaningless chit chat.
After the meal, Isaac and Zac were watching tele, robyn was washing the dishes so she decided to take Taylor to another room and quiz him about this.
"Taylor, who is this girl?'' She asked,
"Remember when we foll...I mean had a tour in Brighton. Met her there, nothing happened but they just got back in touch three months ago." Her heart sunk as she thought about when she saw Zac coming out of his SUV with that leggy blonde, her?!?
"Three months! Three...and he's engaged!" She couldn't believe this was the same guy who refused to admit he loved her until she was kidnapped. She was angry, upset and confused, she paced around the room mumbling asking how could he do this? And complaining about her being a gold digging bimbo but Taylor interrupted her,
"Hang on, as much as I would of loved to see my brother happy with someone he loves. You fucked him up! you too have broken up, had sex. and got nearly back together then you end up changing your minds more times than I can recall! So what, now because you can't have him you want him?" Mia was shocked at Taylor's outburst but she knew it was true, she had messed Zac around a lot but couldn't stand to think anyone else being held by him. Taylor walked out in a bit of a huff and was replaced by Zac strolling in,
"O hey, erm Robyn said I should get off my lazy arse and do something" Zac said awkwardly trying not to catch her eye. But Mia couldn't help herself,
"So how come your fiance isn't here, at Christmas?" Zac looked up at her with and tried to put together an answer but he just couldn't explain himself,
"I don't know, we haven't been together long and it was all kinda hectic." He admitted and she found this adorable that he didn't know what to say. Since they were being honest she just went for it.
"Why are you doing this? Its so soon, and anyone woman who is willing to marry someone they've known three months is clearly a gold digger." He stopped stacking the plates and looked up at her with sadness,
"She was there for me after...after you. I went through a really horrible time after you choose Ashley, like a downward spiral...she was got me through it." She couldn't stand to hear this, every admittance was salt in her wounds. She walked over to Zac, close enough to see them sparkling from tears welling up in his eyes. She carefully swepted a tear that was trickling down his cheek with the palm of her hand and stood there while their eyes scanned each other's faces. He looked up and so did Mia to see mistloe dangling above their head, he looked down at her and tilted his head towards Mia, she looked at his lips, hesitated, but not for long and moved slowly to him. They could feel each others breathe as they got closer, their lips lightly came into contact when,
"Oi Zac, how long does it take a person to clear up some plates!" And they had to quickly jump away from each other. It was Robyn and she was pacing up to the dinning room, trying to look busy Zac watches Mia walk out the room from the corner of his eye.
